INVITATION
Saturday, September 28th please join your fellow neighborhood leaders as we practice the art of difficult conversations.
Location: Capital Vision Christian Church, 1775 Yew Street NE, plenty of parking available
Lunch: Snacks will be provided, but please bring a sack lunch or $5 towards ordering pizza.
Time: 9:00AM to 12:30PM followed by lunch and networking
Why is this practice important?
• Neighbors often have different views. They certainly have different personalities.
• Difficult conversations can be tricky
• Being heard doesn’t equal being right
• Listening so as to understand is critical when having a challenging conversation
• Working in groups isn’t about building consensus — it’s about building cohesion
• This can be challenging and so let’s practice together.
• On October 14 all of us will be discussing the draft Homeless Response strategies at the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CNA) Meeting— let’s prepare
It always helps to recognize our values and assumptions and how they influence our opinions and interactions with others.
Thank you.
